Jeff Hobbs Biography
Jeff Hobbs is the New York Times bestselling author of "The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace," which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, was a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award in Biography, was a finalist for the Carnegie Medal in nonfiction, and was made into the 2024 film "Rob Peace." He is also the author of "Seeking Shelter," "Show Them You’re Good: Stories of Survival and Hope in the Juvenile Justice System," "Children of the State" and a novel, "The Tourists."
Hobbs graduated with a BA in English language and literature from Yale in 2002, where he was awarded the Willets and Meeker prizes for his writing.
Since 2014, Hobbs has visited over a hundred schools to facilitate conversations about access, entitlement, racism, classism, justice, and identity in modern day America. These have included graduate schools, Ivy League universities, state universities, small liberal arts college, HBCUs, independent high schools, vo/tech high schools, urban public schools, and juvenile halls.
