Jaylen Brown

Jaylen Brown is a professional basketball player recognized for his versatility and impact on both ends of the court. Brown was selected by the Boston Celtics with the third overall pick in the NBA Draft after a standout freshman season at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned First-Team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors. During his tenure in Boston, Brown developed into a leading two-way player, earning multiple NBA All-Star selections and All-NBA Team honors. Alongside teammate Jayson Tatum, Brown contributed to the Celtics' appearances in the NBA Finals and played a pivotal role in securing the franchise's 18th NBA championship, earning the Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award. He averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game during the championship series. Brown continued to post career-high averages in subsequent seasons, including 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game, and finished sixth in MVP voting. He later joined the Philadelphia 76ers, forming a trio with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid.

Off the court, Brown is active in civic engagement and education advocacy. He became the youngest elected vice president in the history of the National Basketball Players Association at age 22. As an MIT Media Lab Director's Fellow, Brown collaborated with the university to create the Bridge Program, which mentors Greater Boston youth and high school students of color interested in STEM careers. He has spoken on education reform and social justice at Harvard University, MIT, and Berkeley, and has hosted a Tech Summit. Through the 7uice Foundation, Brown addresses education inequality and economic disparities in Black and Brown communities, connecting students with opportunities through partnerships with MIT scientists, NASA faculty, and Harvard Law professors.

Brown has been named to Forbes 30 Under 30 Local-Boston list and has spoken at TEDxBeaconStreet, discussing his educational journey and vision for systemic reform. With interests spanning philosophy, finance, technology, and social justice advocacy, Brown is part of a generation of athlete-activists who leverage their platforms to drive change in professional sports and beyond.
