Jason Arthur

Jason Arthur is the founding chief executive of Mission 44, the global charitable foundation established by seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton. Arthur serves as both the founding chief executive of Mission 44 and as impact director to Hamilton. Mission 44 is a global charitable foundation focused on driving change so that every young person can thrive in school and access careers in STEM fields.

Arthur's commitment to educational equity is informed by his personal experience attending a struggling state school before progressing to a well-funded sixth form and later to Oxford University. This background highlighted for him the disparities in access to opportunities among students, shaping his dedication to making education more accessible and equitable.

Arthur began his career as a teacher in East London and has held leadership roles in the nonprofit sector, including at Teach First, the #iwill campaign, and Youth Futures Foundation. He served as deputy chief executive at the #iwill campaign, where he managed campaign communications and stakeholder relationships. Arthur also served as an elected local politician in North London, including as cabinet member for finance for the London Borough of Haringey, where he oversaw a £400 million budget and financial strategy. He holds a BA in politics, philosophy and economics from the University of Oxford and a master's in education from the University of Cambridge.

Under Arthur's leadership, Mission 44 has expanded its network to invest in 29 organizations focused on improving outcomes for young people and driving systemic change. The foundation has made its first international grants with partners in the United States and Brazil and has convened more than 150 young people and partners at events in Silverstone, Austin, and São Paulo to explore opportunities in STEM and motorsport. Mission 44 also launched a Diversity in Education Fund, investing £1 million into two organizations to increase the ethnic diversity of individuals entering teaching and to influence policy and practice across the education system.

Arthur works to expand opportunities for young people from underserved communities, with a particular focus on increasing access to education and employment and embedding youth voice in decision-making. He has dedicated much of his career to integrating young people into the organizations he leads and collaborates with. Arthur is also recognized for his public commentary on race equity and social cohesion, speaking at forums such as the Milken Institute Global Conference and SXSW London, and advocating for systemic change and youth empowerment.
