Jamie Siminoff

Jamie Siminoff is known in the technology and home security industries as the founder and chief inventor of Ring, the company behind the first Wi-Fi video doorbell. Siminoff created the Wi-Fi video doorbell while working in his garage, initially to see who was at his front door. He soon recognized the device's potential to impact home security systems.

Before founding Ring, Siminoff launched several ventures, including PhoneTag, a voicemail-to-text company, and Unsubscribe.com, a service designed to help users manage commercial email. His entrepreneurial journey included an appearance on ABC's "Shark Tank," where he pitched his product, then called DoorBot. Although he did not secure a deal, the exposure led to increased sales and attracted investors such as Shaquille O'Neal and Virgin Group cofounder Richard Branson. The company was later rebranded as Ring and expanded its lineup of DIY home security products and services, including the Ring Video Doorbell.

Amazon acquired Ring in a deal valued at $1 billion, making it one of the company's largest acquisitions. The acquisition positioned Ring as a major player in the smart home and security technology sectors, with millions of customers using its products. The "Shark Tank" deal is often cited as a significant moment in the show's history.

After the acquisition, Siminoff continued to lead Ring within Amazon before stepping back from day-to-day operations. He later returned to oversee the business, focusing on integrating artificial intelligence into Ring's security offerings. Siminoff has also appeared as a guest Shark on "Shark Tank," sharing insights from his entrepreneurial experience. He is an alumnus of Babson College, where he has spoken on topics related to innovation, persistence, and entrepreneurship.
