Jake Smollett

Jake Smollett has been working in the entertainment business for over three decades. At just 3 months old, he began his career modeling in New York City. The very next year, his family moved to Los Angeles where he landed acting roles in ABC’s Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, and On Our Own, a show starring he and his five real-life siblings. Making history as the first time an entire family of black siblings have appeared in a scripted series, he later landed numerous film and television roles, including one in the critically acclaimed feature film, Eve’s Bayou, where he acted alongside Hollywood heavy-hitters, Samuel L. Jackson and Lynn Whitfield.

As a teenager, Smollett decided to fuse his love for acting with his love for food. At just fifteen years old, he began to be affectionately known around Los Angeles as “…the Kid with the Afro and Vegan Pies” while demoing his family company called Mommy’s Baked Goods. A company specializing in the most delicious vegan treats taken from his mothers own recipes and reworked. The treats ended up in a dozen local, California health food markets. He continued to work tirelessly to pay dues as a chef and from his natural ability and Family roots in New Orleans to Pizza/pasta classes in Positano and Naples, Smollett engulfed himself in the art of food and started producing his own cooking shows.

Smollett worked out a deal with Los Angeles Metro system’s TRANSIT TV for his show, "Take Ten," which showed riders how to make any moment great with food while never spending over $10.00. From there he landed his very own show on Food Network, "Smollett Eats." Ever since he hit the food scene, Smollett has demoed his delicious recipes on hit shows, "The Chew," "The Today Show," "Good Morning America" and "Rachael Ray," where he was a featured resident chef.

Smollett then became a bestselling author with the Harper Collins release of his cookbook, The Family Table: Recipes & Moments from a Nomadic Life, co-authored by his three siblings.

Smollett currently co-hosts and executive produces CLEO TV’s Living By Design with Jake and Jazz, currently in Season 3. In the show, Smollett shows off his culinary, furniture design, and construction skills, all of which has helped propel them to the number one spot on CLEO TV, a new millennial cable network.

In 2020, Smollett started a new production company, IronPack Productions. With a focus on food and lifestyle shows, he now operates a full-service production company, that produces both unscripted and scripted content.
