Jack Carr

Jack Carr is a former Navy SEAL sniper, New York Times bestselling author, screenwriter, producer, and podcaster whose career spans military service and contemporary thriller fiction. During two decades in Naval Special Warfare, Carr led special operations teams as a team leader, platoon commander, troop commander, and task unit commander. He transitioned from an enlisted SEAL sniper to a junior officer, leading assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, practicing counterinsurgency in the southern Philippines, and commanding a Special Operations Task Unit in southern Iraq during the drawdown of U.S. forces. Carr is a two-time recipient of the Bronze Star Medal with V Device and retired after 20 years of service.

Carr pursued dual ambitions from a young age: serving as a Navy SEAL and becoming an author. He completed his first novel, "The Terminal List," while transitioning out of the military. The book achieved commercial success, earning the Goodreads Choice Award for Debut Author and the Thriller Award for Best First Novel, and established a franchise within the military thriller genre. Carr has since authored several New York Times bestselling novels, including "True Believer," "Savage Son," "The Devil's Hand," "In the Blood," "Only the Dead," "Red Sky Mourning," and "Cry Havoc."

Drawing on real-world combat experience, Carr delivers authenticity to the political thriller genre, offering readers insight into the mindset of modern special operations soldiers. He served as executive producer for the Amazon Studios adaptation of "The Terminal List" starring Chris Pratt, which became the top series on Amazon Prime Video. A prequel series, "The Terminal List: Dark Wolf," starring Taylor Kitsch, also premiered at number one on Prime Video. An adaptation of "True Believer" is in development for Prime Video.

Carr is the co-author of the nonfiction work "Targeted: Beirut" and hosts the "Danger Close" podcast, which features conversations with special operations veterans, tacticians, strategists, historians, newsmakers, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, geopolitical analysts, intelligence professionals, and authors. He is also launching a thriller series co-written with author M.P. Woodward. Carr serves on the board of directors of Valor for Life, a nonprofit organization providing military veterans with no-cost surgical spine care, and donates merchandise profits to veteran-focused organizations.
