J. Patrick Brusch

'J. Patrick Brusch is a retired law enforcement executive with a career spanning nearly three decades at the Fairfax County Police Department. Brusch began his service as a patrol officer at the Franconia District Station and later joined the Franconia Neighborhood Patrol Unit. He was selected as a detective with the Organized Crime and Narcotic Division, where he worked undercover for more than four years, collaborating with local and federal agencies to address drug trafficking throughout the National Capital Region.

Brusch advanced to supervisory roles within the department, holding assignments at Franconia District Station, Sully Neighborhood Patrol, Internal Affairs, Mason Neighborhood Patrol, and the Major Crimes Bureau's Child Exploitation unit. He was promoted to captain, serving in the Organized Crime and Narcotics Bureau, Major Crimes Bureau, Violent Crimes Division, and as commander of the Mason District Station. During his tenure as Mason District commander, Brusch prioritized community engagement and public safety, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe environment for all residents.

Brusch was ultimately promoted to major of the Major Crimes Bureau, where he managed some of the region's most complex and high-profile investigations. As deputy chief overseeing the Major Crimes Bureau, he played a significant role in major criminal investigations and contributed an analytical perspective to law enforcement leadership. Brusch consistently advocated for the use of data and crime analysis as strategic tools, promoting the idea that comprehensive crime analysis can transform agency operations and enhance policing effectiveness.

Brusch holds a degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a graduate degree in computer forensics from George Washington University. His academic background informed his approach to digital investigations and evidence analysis. After nearly 29 years of service, Brusch retired from the Fairfax County Police Department. His experience encompasses narcotics, internal affairs, violent crimes, child exploitation, and major crimes, positioning him as a knowledgeable voice on the evolving challenges in modern law enforcement, crime analysis, and digital forensics.
