Holly May

Holly May is the chief human resources officer at Petco Health and Wellness Company, where she leads the company's HR and communications strategy in support of Petco's mission to improve the lives of pets, pet parents, and employees. In this executive role, May is responsible for driving an HR agenda that supports profitable growth and performance, while fostering a workplace culture focused on innovation, mental health, and inclusivity. May supports Petco’s 29,000 employees and advances the organization’s commitment to both personal and business growth.

With more than two decades of experience in human resources, May has developed HR programs and policies across global organizations. Prior to joining Petco, she served as executive vice president and global chief human resources officer at Walgreens Boots Alliance, overseeing all aspects of global HR and environmental, social, and governance functions for hundreds of thousands of employees. Her career also includes executive leadership positions at Starbucks, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Visa, where she championed fair HR practices and fostered inclusive workplaces.

May holds a degree from Wellesley College and a Master of Finance from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. Based at Petco’s National Support Center in San Diego, May is recognized for her expertise in workplace culture, mental health, and organizational transformation, and is a frequent speaker on these topics in the business community.
