Gus Malzahn

Gus Malzahn has amassed a wealth of experience in the world of collegiate football. His coaching career began at the University of Tulsa, where he served as the assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coach, propelling the team to rank first in total yards per game in 2007. Following his success at Tulsa, Malzahn moved to Auburn University as the offensive coordinator. He made significant improvements to the team's offensive rankings and in 2010 became the highest-paid assistant coach in the country. His strategic guidance and offensive acumen led Auburn to an undefeated season and a victory in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game.

Malzahn's tenure as head coach at Auburn University, from 2013 to 2020, was marked by numerous achievements. Under his leadership, Auburn won the 2013 SEC Championship and made an appearance at the 2014 BCS Championship Game. He also coached 12 All-America Team players and saw 36 of his players selected in the NFL draft. Malzahn moved on to the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2021. Despite a challenging transition to the Big 12 in 2023, his coaching helped UCF maintain a competitive standing. He resigned from UCF in 2024 and took on the role of offensive coordinator at Florida State until his retirement in 2026.

Malzahn's influence extends beyond his coaching positions. He has authored a book, "Hurry Up No Huddle – An Offensive Philosophy", detailing his innovative approach to the game. His overall head coaching record stands at 105 wins and 62 losses - a testament to his coaching prowess. Malzahn's career is also decorated with numerous awards, including the AP College Football Coach of the Year, Paul "Bear" Bryant Award, and Bobby Bowden Coach of the Year Award, all of which he received in 2013.
