Glynnis Breen

Glynnis Breen is a communications and marketing executive with a focus on conservation, science, and environmental advocacy. Breen serves as vice president of communications at the National Audubon Society, where she oversees both external and internal communications, including organizational messaging, media relations, crisis communications, and communications to Audubon's staff, network, boards, states, centers, and chapters. In this role, Breen leads strategic communications efforts for the organization, supporting cross-sector engagement and conservation impact.

Before joining Audubon, Breen managed communications, marketing, and brand strategy for the American Forest Foundation. At the American Forest Foundation, she was promoted to chief marketing and communications officer, leading national marketing, strategic communications, positioning, and brand strategy, and driving measurable growth and return on investment.

Prior to her work at the American Forest Foundation, Breen directed global outreach initiatives for the National Geographic Society, overseeing communications and marketing for all programmatic divisions and leading engagement efforts for the organization's Explorers, Grantees, and Fellows initiatives. Her work at National Geographic increased visibility and contributed to scientific discovery and conservation gains. Earlier in her career, she held positions at Witeck and Ketchum, building experience in strategic communications across the public and private sectors.

Breen has experience in the conservation, science, and education sectors. She holds a bachelor's degree from The George Washington University. Beyond her professional work, Breen is a founding member of Chief, a private network supporting senior women executives. Her experience spans global nonprofit communications, brand strategy, coalition building, and crisis management, positioning her as a knowledgeable voice on environmental advocacy, organizational storytelling, and the role of strategic communications in driving change.
