Glenn Close made her professional career debut on stage in 1974, with her breakthrough role in Hollywood following in 1980 with "The World According to Garp." Over the years, she became a versatile actress, receiving critical acclaim and numerous award nominations for her performances in films such as "The Big Chill," "The Natural," "Fatal Attraction," and "Dangerous Liaisons." Beyond her acting career, Close has been vocal on issues such as women's rights, same-sex marriage, and mental health. In 2019, she was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time.

In addition to her acting work in film and television, Close has had a prolific career in theater. She made her Broadway debut in "Love for Love" in 1974 and has since won Tony Awards for her roles in "The Real Thing," "Death and the Maiden," and "Sunset Boulevard." Close returned to Broadway in 2014 for a revival of "A Delicate Balance" and reprised her role as Norma Desmond in "Sunset Boulevard" on the West End stage in 2016.
