Gary Beach

Gary Beach is a recognized figure in information technology media, bringing more than three decades of publishing experience to his role as publisher emeritus of IDG's CIO Magazine. Beach's career in the information technology media sector includes executive positions at McGraw-Hill on Data Communications, the world's first digital networking magazine, and at International Data Group, where he served as publisher of Network World, Computerworld, and CIO Magazine. He also founded CIO India Magazine. Beach joined IDG following a decade in managerial roles at McGraw-Hill, Inc.

Beach is known for his expertise on the role of the chief information officer, IT best practices, and technology workforce trends. He has testified before the U.S. House and Senate on key issues affecting the IT industry and is frequently cited by major media organizations such as CNN, USA Today, The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, and BusinessWeek. Beach contributed technology commentaries to National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" and "Morning Edition" and appeared regularly on CNBC's "Squawk Box," "Squawk on the Street," and "The Closing Bell," discussing technology investment and acquisition trends.

John Wiley and Sons published Beach's book, "The U.S. Technology Skills Gap," which has been noted for its contextual history of STEM education. From the Oval Office of the White House, he launched the IT nonprofit organization Tech Corps, which encourages IT professionals to address education technology issues in K-12 schools.
