Gabby Thomas

Gabrielle Thomas is a sprinter and two-time Olympian recognized for her achievements in track and field. Thomas became the first American track athlete to win three gold medals in the same Olympics since 2012, accomplishing this at the Paris Games. She secured individual gold in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.83 seconds and contributed to gold-medal performances in both the 4×100-meter and 4×400-meter relays, becoming the fifth woman to win three gold medals in track and field at a single Olympics. Thomas is also the first American woman to win 200-meter gold at the Games since Allyson Felix.

Thomas's athletic career is complemented by academic accomplishments. While at Harvard University, she won the 200-meter race at the NCAA Indoor Championship, becoming the first NCAA sprint champion in Ivy League history. Thomas earned a degree in neurobiology and global health from Harvard and completed a master's degree in epidemiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In her Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games, Thomas earned bronze in the 200-meter event and silver in the 4×100-meter relay. She is among the fastest women in history in the 200 meters, with a personal best of 21.60 seconds.

After her Paris victories, Thomas competed in the inaugural season of Grand Slam Track, founded by Michael Johnson. She joined the first group of Grand Slam Track champions, highlighted by a personal best in the 400 meters in Kingston, Jamaica, and a meet title for her long sprints group. Thomas has also appeared on the cover of Vogue, attended Fashion Week, and served as grand marshal of the New York City Marathon.

Beyond athletics, Thomas is committed to public health and community service. While training for the Olympics, she volunteered at an Austin healthcare clinic serving uninsured individuals. Thomas advocates for diversity in STEM fields and encourages young people, particularly young women of color, to pursue careers in science and technology. She has participated in the "Lots of Compassion" program, transforming vacant lots into community gardens across the United States. Thomas has also contributed to Austin's Volunteer Healthcare Clinic, assisting with management and patient care. Her career reflects a dedication to both elite athletic performance and meaningful impact in public health and community engagement.
