His powerful personal perspective illuminates the big stories behind his images, which are drawn from three decades of work in wild places from the Amazon to Antarctica. Lanting’s presentations feature stunning images and thoughtful commentary on the challenges of global conservation and the role of photography in inspiring a new vision of our world.
Lanting and his wife and partner Chris Eckstrom, a writer and videographer, have collaborated for more than twenty years, documenting wildlife and wild places on assignment for National Geographic. When they appear together onstage, they share what it’s like to live and work together in remote corners of the world, and how they team up in the field with both indigenous peoples, local communities, and international wildlife researchers to bring home stories from the front lines of our wild planet. Together they have produced numerous articles, award-winning books, traveling exhibitions, and the LIFE symphony, a multimedia orchestral performance featuring the imagery of Lanting and the music of Philip Glass.
