Fatimah Loren Dreier

Fatimah Loren Dreier is a leader in health equity and violence prevention, serving as executive director of both the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention and the Kaiser Permanente Center for Gun Violence Research and Education. In these roles, Dreier has led the expansion of hospital-based violence intervention programs across more than 85 cities, advancing trauma-informed, community-centered care for individuals affected by violence. As vice president at Health Resources in Action, Dreier has contributed to public health strategies addressing gun violence as a preventable public health issue, with an emphasis on racial equity and social determinants of health.

Dreier advises national policy initiatives, including supporting the Biden administration on healthcare policy and helping secure federal investments for community violence intervention. Her leadership has supported efforts to use Medicaid as a funding source for violence intervention programs and to distribute grants for research and evidence-based interventions. Dreier’s work has been featured in The Washington Post, TIME Magazine, The New York Times, CNN, and NPR, and she has been recognized by Modern Healthcare for her contributions to innovation in public health.

A Pozen-Commonwealth Fund Fellow in Health Equity Leadership at Yale School of Management and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Dreier brings clinical, academic, and policy expertise to her public speaking and advocacy. Her experience, from overcoming personal adversity to leading national movements for change, reflects her commitment to elevating community voices and advancing solutions in violence prevention and health equity.
