Evan Bates

​Evan Bates is a seasoned ice dancer with a long-standing partnership with Madison Chock. With a competitive career that spans over a decade, Bates and Chock have represented the United States at multiple Winter Olympics, including the 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2026 games. Bates' early achievements with his former partner Emily Samuelson include a bronze medal at the 2009 Four Continents and the 2008 World Junior championship. However, his partnership with Chock, which began in 2011, has resulted in an even more impressive collection of awards and recognitions.

Bates and Chock have secured numerous victories, including three World championships in ice dance (2023, 2024, 2025), three Grand Prix Final championships (2023–24, 2024–25, 2025–26), and seven U.S. national championships (2015, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026). They have also won three Four Continents championships (2019, 2020, 2023). Their talents on the ice earned them the honor of representing the United States as the flag bearers during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Their partnership has not only resulted in a successful competitive career but also a personal relationship, with the two getting engaged in 2022 and married in 2024.

Bates is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in the team event (2022, 2026) and a 2026 Winter Olympics silver medalist in ice dance. His achievements have earned him recognition within the ice dancing community, including being inducted into the International Skating Union Hall of Fame in 2020 and 2023, earning the "ISU Figure Skating Awards 2025", and setting records for highest total scores in ice dancing. With his continued success, Bates has proven his expertise in ice dance and his value as a representative of United States figure skating.
