Edward P. Joseph

Edward P. Joseph combines the perspective of a Washington-based policy academic with the practical experience of a field practitioner. A former U.S. Army officer and United Nations official, Joseph has worked on the ground in conflict zones for 15 years.

Joseph is a professorial lecturer at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a senior fellow at the school's Foreign Policy Institute. He is known for providing clear analysis of complex international conflicts and global security issues. He is an executive director at the National Council on U.S.-Libya Relations.

Joseph is recognized for his commentary on Middle East affairs, appearing on Aljazeera, Alhurra, and WION in India. He has received recognition for his work during and after the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina and continues to provide analysis on Balkan and Eastern European affairs, including developments in Ukraine and NATO policy.

Joseph holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia, as well as a B.A. and M.A. from Johns Hopkins University and the School of Advanced International Studies, respectively. He served as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army Reserve. Joseph has participated in international forums and policy conferences and is frequently invited to speak on conflict resolution, diplomacy, and international relations.
