Dusty May

Dusty May commenced his career as a head coach at Florida Atlantic University where he served from 2018 to 2024. During his tenure, he set records for the most career wins (126) and the most single-season wins (35). His significant achievements culminated in leading the Florida Atlantic Owls to their first NCAA Final Four appearance in 2023. He was awarded the CUSA Coach of the Year in the same year. In 2024, May was named the 18th head basketball coach at the University of Michigan which marked the beginning of a new chapter in his career.

At Michigan, Dusty May continued to build on his coaching record with remarkable achievements. He led the Michigan Wolverines to their NCAA Final Four in 2026, an achievement that earned him the Big Ten Coach of the Year and the prestigious Henry Iba Award. Alongside these accolades, May set new records at Michigan, tying the record for the most single-season wins (35) and setting a new record for Big Ten single-season conference wins (19). He also won the Big Ten tournament in March 2025, making him the first officially recognized conference coach to achieve such a feat in their first season at the helm.

Under the leadership of Dusty May, the Michigan Wolverines have achieved a consistent track of success. In particular, the 2025-26 season saw May recruit one of the nation's top transfer portal classes, leading Michigan to a No. 1 ranking in the Coaches Poll by December 2025. That season, Michigan achieved a program record of 29 regular season wins and 19 conference wins. He has a notable overall coaching record of 188 wins and 82 losses as of 2026. Furthermore, his teams are known for their competitive spirit and significant turnarounds, as evidenced by multiple successful seasons and postseason performances.
