Drew Storen

Drew Storen is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) relief pitcher best known for his tenure with the Washington Nationals, where he emerged as one of the club’s most reliable late-inning arms during the early 2010s. Born on August 11, 1987, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Storen developed into an elite bullpen prospect at Stanford Cardinal baseball, earning All-American honors and showcasing the power arsenal that would define his professional career.

Selected 10th overall in the 2009 MLB Draft by Washington, Storen moved quickly through the minor leagues and made his big-league debut in 2010. He soon became the Nationals’ closer, highlighted by a standout 2011 season in which he recorded 43 saves and established himself as a key piece of the team’s bullpen. Known for his mid-to-upper-90s fastball and sharp slider, Storen thrived in high-leverage situations, ultimately compiling 99 career saves and a 3.45 ERA across eight MLB seasons.

Storen’s time in Washington coincided with the franchise’s rise into National League contention, though his postseason appearances were marked by a few high-profile struggles that contrasted with his regular-season consistency. After several productive years with the Nationals, he was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in 2016, later pitching for the Seattle Mariners and finishing his MLB career with the Cincinnati Reds in 2017.
