Dr. Jerry Bockoven Biography
Holding master’s degrees in both divinity and counseling and a PhD in counseling psychology, Dr. Jerry Bockoven has provided mental health therapy to individuals and couples for more than 30 years. During his career, he also worked as an ordained parish minister, nonprofit executive, leadership consultant and university professor. He was granted the title of Professor Emeritus of Psychology by Nebraska Wesleyan University following his retirement in 2021.
Dr. Bockoven's speaking experience began in his career as a parish minister and university professor. He also provided programs for local civic groups. Since his retirement, he has focused exclusively on public speaking in response to the country's growing mental health crisis. His lively and entertaining presentations on mental health topics such as emotional resiliency, anxiety management, couples' issues, grief, and coping with change incorporate respectful humor, engaging stories, and heartfelt home-spun poetry.
He is also the author of the book "What Rhymes with Therapy," which won an International Impact Book Award.
