Dr. Gail Saltz is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill-Cornell Medical College and a psychoanalyst with the New York Psychoanalytic Institute. A frequent contributor in the media, she is a columnist, bestselling author, podcast host and television commentator and one of the nation’s foremost go-to experts on a variety of psychological and mental health issues, especially those pertaining to stress and anxiety, emotional well-being, relationships, and the mental health aspects of current news.
Dr. Saltz has appeared on Good Morning America, Dr. Oz, The View, Dateline, 20/20, Primetime, Today, CNN, CBS This Morning, MSNBC, The Oprah Winfrey Show and more. She is a mental health and parenting contributor for US News & World Report and Chair of the 92nd Street Y 7 Days of Genius Advisory Committee. Dr. Saltz has served as a visiting professor at Stanford University and will present the keynote address at the Harvard Conference Learning and the Brain in November 2018. She also serves as a medical expert for Physicians for Human Rights.

Dr. Saltz is the author of the critically-acclaimed Becoming Real: Defeating the Stories We Tell Ourselves That Hold Us Back, Anatomy of a Secret Life: The Psychology of Living a Lie, The Ripple Effect: How Better Sex Can Lead to a Better Life and her most recent, The Power of Different: The Link Between Disorder and Genius. She has also written two children’s books, Amazing You! Getting Smart About Your Private Parts and Changing You: A Guide to Body Changes and Sexuality.
Dr. Saltz graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and served her internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Cornell-Weill School of Medicine and The New York Presbyterian Hospital. Her undergraduate studies were at Lehigh University, where she earned a B.A. in Biology and Psychology. She lives in New York City with her family and has a private practice in Manhattan.
