Derek Hough

Derek Hough's career spans a diverse range of performing arts, from Latin and ballroom dancing to acting and singing. He gained recognition as a professional dancer on the ABC dance competition series "Dancing with the Stars," where he brought home six wins between 2007 and 2016. Hough also showcased his choreographic prowess, earning 14 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations for Outstanding Choreography and winning four times. His stage appearances include significant roles in the West End premiere of "Footloose: The Musical" and the "New York Spring Spectacular" at Radio City Music Hall.

Branching out from the dance floor, Hough demonstrated his acting skills in the film "Make Your Move" and had a recurring role in the ABC musical-drama "Nashville." He also made a notable appearance as Corny Collins in NBC's live musical TV-production of "Hairspray Live!" His expertise in dance and performance led to a judging role on the NBC dance competition series "World of Dance" from 2017 to 2020. In 2025, Hough transitioned into presenting, taking on the role of host for "Extra" in its 32nd season.

Outside of dance competitions and acting, Hough has been proactive in promoting fitness and community interaction. He was involved in "Move Interactive," a series of free fitness pop-up events in Los Angeles, starting in July 2016. He also co-created and performed in the "Move Live on Tour" with his sister Julianne Hough, a tour that visited over 40 cities in the U.S. and Canada during the summer of 2014 and was brought back due to high demand in 2015.
