Debbie Phelps

A highly sought after motivational speaker and recent author, Debbie Phelps addresses a range of topics related to education, child development and life lessons.

Over the course of her distinguished career, Phelps has developed a state-of-the-art food science lab, designed and implemented award-winning nutrition and food science curriculum and has been actively involved in the successful launch of two middle schools.

Beyond the school halls, Phelps is also affectionately known as a “swim mom” to three accomplished swimmers; her daughters Hilary and Whitney, and son, Michael. Michael is the most successful and most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 28 medals. Phelps also holds the all-time records for Olympic gold medals, Olympic gold medals in individual events, and Olympic medals in individual events.

Debbie added “author” to her resume with the release of her first book, A Mother for All Seasons, in which she reveals the universal themes of her life story that is rich with struggle, humor, hope, advice and passion and rallies readers to cheer for all of our children at every stage of their growth and in every endeavor.

Phelps has served on multiple business and community-advisory boards including the Board of Directors member of The Children’s Guild, Rachel’s Challenge and the American Students’ Fund. Debbie was appointed principal of Windsor Mill Middle School in 2005 in which she worked alongside the architect to open the first new middle school in Baltimore County Public Schools in over two decades.

Phelps has also been a member of the “Kids Helping Hopkins” Board of Directors, as well as a board member for Northwest Hospital. She has been actively involved with a variety of charity organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County, Make-A-Wish Foundation Mid-Atlantic region, Pathfinders for Autism, and John’s Hopkins Shock Trauma Medical Center among others.
