Dax Shepard

Dax Shepard is an actor, writer, director and podcast host. He is known for playing Crosby Braverman in NBC's "Parenthood," from 2010 t0 2015, as well as the for starring in feature films Employee of the Month (2006) and Zathura (2005).

Shepard, who is named for the protagonist in Harold Robbins' novel "The Adventurers," has hosted the popular podcast "Armchair Expert" since 2018. That same year, it was the most popular podcast on iTunes.

Shepard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from UCLA, where he graduated magna cum laude. Originally more interested in comedy and improv than acting, Shepard joined The Groundlings improv troupe after moving to Los Angeles.

In 2003, Shepard began to make a name for himself through his work on the hidden camera TV show "Punk'd," which also starred Ashton Kutcher. His first main character role was in Let's Go to Prison (2006), he also had a main role in the 2008 comedy Baby Mama. Shepard wrote, produced, co-directed, and starred in the 2012 low-budget film Hit and Run alongside Kristen Bell and Bradley Cooper.

Shepard married actress Kristen Bell in 2013, although they had been dating since 2007. They waited to marry until same-sex marriage was legalized in California.

In 2014, Shepard starred with his wife, Kristen Bell, in a commercial for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. It was so popular that they did another commercial for the holiday season.

Shepard played Luke Matthews in the Netflix show "The Ranch" (2016-2020) and co-starred in ABC's "Bless This Mess" (2019-2020).

Shepard will be a host of the revived "Top Gear America", which will debut on Motor Trend in Spring 2020.

Shepard has previously battled substance abuse problems, although he has been sober since September 2004. He volunteers much of his time to the Hollenbeck Youth Center an after-school program that provides opportunities for at-risk inner-city youth.

Shepard, who is the son of a car salesman and a General Motors employee, is an avid car enthusiast, as one might expect. He owns a 1967 Lincoln Continental and races off-road. He has also been known to race motorcycles including his Ducati Hypermotard 1100S and Suzuki GSX-R1000 at Buttonwillow Raceway in Kern County, California.
