David Subar

David Subar is the founder and managing partner of Interna, a technology consultancy focused on helping technology companies deliver better products faster, achieve product-market fit efficiently, and optimize capital deployment. Subar has implemented the lean startup methodology for more than 30 technology companies, with Interna's client portfolio including leaders in mobile technology, augmented reality, online media, big data, and companies such as Disney, Lynda.com, Meta, and Fox. Interna has supported organizations ranging from small startups to major corporations like the Walt Disney Company, and has contributed to the growth and acquisition of companies including Pluto and Lynda.com.

Subar’s career in the technology industry spans hands-on leadership roles, including developer, engineering team leader, and executive positions such as chief technology officer and chief product officer at companies including ZestFinance, Break Media, and Interthinx. At Break Media, Subar managed product management, product development, technical infrastructure, and led an international team across Los Angeles and Shanghai, overseeing technology strategy for mobile and internet-connected consumer electronics devices. His background in electrical engineering and experience developing enemy detection solutions for the U.S. military have informed his work in data analytics and technology innovation.

Beginning his career in research and development, Subar has led teams in more than seven countries, supporting clients with products reaching tens of millions of users. His experience includes building products with over 600 billion monthly page views, developing hardware and operating systems for augmented reality devices, advising The Walt Disney Company on Disney+, founding two companies, and serving as an advisor and executive for three unicorns. Through Interna, Subar has performed interim chief technology officer and chief product officer roles for Lynda.com, Andela, and Reify Health, all of which achieved unicorn status, and has conducted due diligence for venture capital and private equity investors on mergers and acquisitions valued up to $400 million.

Subar’s approach emphasizes designing and developing user experiences that are compelling, entertaining, and useful, and fostering collaboration between product management and engineering teams.
