David Chilton

David Chilton is a Canadian author, investor, and financial educator known for his contributions to personal finance education. Early in his career, Chilton completed the Canadian Securities Course with the highest national score and worked as a stockbroker and financial planning seminar instructor. Drawing from these experiences, he self-published "The Wealthy Barber," a narrative framed around conversations in a barber shop that explains saving, investing, and debt avoidance. "The Wealthy Barber" is one of the best-selling Canadian books, with over two million copies sold.

Chilton's entrepreneurial efforts extended to publishing, where he partnered with Janet and Greta Podleski to self-publish their cookbook, "Looneyspoons: Low-Fat Food Made Fun!" The book became a national bestseller, selling 325,000 copies in its first year. Chilton served as the financial backer and business partner, using his publishing experience from "The Wealthy Barber" to manage distribution and marketing. The collaboration continued with additional bestsellers, including "Crazy Plates" and "Eat, Shrink & Be Merry!"

Chilton released a sequel, "The Wealthy Barber Returns," which presents his financial advice in his own voice and covers topics in savings and investments, with an emphasis on avoiding reckless spending. The book became a Canadian bestseller. "The Wealthy Barber" has since been completely rewritten to address contemporary financial challenges, with the updated version maintaining a strong presence on the Globe and Mail Canadian Non-Fiction Bestseller List.

Chilton joined the TV series "Dragons' Den" for three seasons, where he evaluated business pitches and applied principles of prudent investing and long-term financial planning. He closed 22 deals during his time on the show.

As a keynote speaker, Chilton addresses financial literacy, personal finance, and financial planning, emphasizing practical advice and perspective. He also launched "The Wealthy Barber Podcast," where he discusses personal finance topics with various guests.
