David C. McCourt

David C. McCourt is an entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist known for building and transforming companies in the telecommunications, media, and infrastructure sectors. He is the founder and chairman of Granahan McCourt Capital, a private investment firm focused on digital infrastructure, wireless technology, and next-generation communications networks. Over the course of his career, McCourt has launched and led numerous ventures aimed at expanding global connectivity and modernizing telecommunications systems.

Earlier in his career, McCourt founded McCourt Cable Systems, which he built into one of the largest privately owned cable television companies in the United States before selling it to Comcast. He later expanded his entrepreneurial efforts into media and infrastructure, including founding ALTV, a digital video platform, and investing in advanced wireless technologies designed to improve broadband access and spectrum efficiency.

McCourt later moved into television and film production, taking on a range of creative roles. In 2005, he won an Emmy Award for the long-running children’s series "Reading Rainbow," which promotes a love of reading. He also produced "Miracle’s Boys," directed by Spike Lee, for Nickelodeon’s teen network. He served as executive producer of the ten-part documentary series "What’s Going On?," which explored how global conflict affects children around the world. In 2026, he released his PBS docuseries "Amerigo," which explores the state of the American Dream as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary.
