Dan Savage is an author, sex-advice columnist, podcaster, pundit, and public speaker known for his work in sexuality education, LGBTQ advocacy, and media commentary.
"Savage Love," Savage's sex-advice column, first appeared in The Stranger, Seattle’s alternative weekly. The column is now syndicated to more than 50 newspapers across the United States and Canada. Savage has published six books, including "Savage Love from A to Z: Advice on Sex and Relationships, Dating and Mating, Exes and Extras."
Savage and his husband, Terry Miller, founded the It Gets Better Project, which has collected tens of thousands of videos from people worldwide offering hope to LGBTQ youth. The book "It Gets Better: Coming Out, Overcoming Bullying, and Creating a Life Worth Living" became a New York Times best seller. The It Gets Better Project received an Emmy Award for its impact.
MTV filmed Savage as he toured colleges performing "Savage Love Live," the live version of his sex-advice column. This tour became the basis for the MTV program "Savage U." Savage also launched the Savage Lovecast, a weekly, call-in advice podcast, which has ranked among iTunes' top 50 podcasts.
Savage’s direct and pragmatic advice has influenced discussions on monogamy, LGBTQ rights, sexuality, and politics.
