Dallas Goldtooth

Dallas Goldtooth is a Mdewakanton Dakota and Diné artist, activist, and storyteller whose work spans television, film, theater, and environmental advocacy. A writer, actor, comedian, playwright, film producer, and published poet, Goldtooth is recognized for his contributions to contemporary Indigenous media and representation. He is widely known for his role as William Spirit Knifeman on the FX series "Reservation Dogs," the first American television program to feature an all-Indigenous writing staff and directors, as well as a predominantly Indigenous cast and crew. The show received an Emmy nomination for outstanding comedy series, with Goldtooth serving as both a series regular and a writer for multiple seasons, contributing to its authentic portrayal of Native American life.

Prior to his on-screen work, Goldtooth co-founded the 1491s, an intertribal Indigenous sketch comedy troupe that includes "Reservation Dogs" creator Sterlin Harjo. The group gained a following through viral YouTube videos, including a Twilight parody, and appeared on major media outlets such as The Daily Show on Comedy Central, Al Jazeera, and National Public Radio. The 1491s brought their satirical humor to the stage with "Between Two Knees," a play that blends Indigenous history, sketch comedy, and science fantasy. The production earned an OBIE Award and was staged at venues including Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Yale Repertory Theatre, and New York City's Perelman Performing Arts Center.

Goldtooth's screen credits include roles in Marvel's "Echo," Amazon's "Fallout," Peacock's "Rutherford Falls," CBS's "Ghosts," the Netflix feature "Rez Ball," and the independent film "Seeds." He also played a dramatic leading role as Hutch, a U.S. Marshal, in Apple TV+'s action thriller "The Last Frontier."

Beyond his work in entertainment, Goldtooth is active in environmental justice movements. As a former campaign organizer for the Indigenous Environmental Network, he contributed to efforts to stop the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines and was a visible presence at the Standing Rock protests, advocating for Indigenous sovereignty and climate justice. Goldtooth is also a Dakota language instructor dedicated to preserving and sharing traditional Indigenous knowledge. Through his storytelling, activism, and comedy, he has built a significant social media following, using his platform to educate audiences on Indigenous resilience, environmental justice, and cultural empowerment. He delivers keynote speeches internationally, drawing on his experience at the intersection of art and advocacy to address issues of representation and narrative change.
