Cynthia Ganote

Dr. Cynthia Ganote works with individuals, teams, and organizations that want to advance a culture of inclusion, connection, and powerful communication. She has taught courses on race, class, and gender inequalities at the university level for the past 25 years. Over her career, she has been an Assistant Dean for Diversity and Community Engagement, a tenured sociology professor, a Director of Faculty Development (focused on catalyzing faculty professional development), and a student affairs professional before becoming a national educator, speaker, consultant and coach.

Ganote believes that micro changes can have macro impact. As a sociologist, she’s studied it. As a professor, she’s taught it. And as a learning and development professional, she’s watched positive change ripple out in organizations of all types, sizes, and industries.

Ganote and her colleagues, Dr. Tasha Souza and Dr. Floyd Cheung, co-developed microresistance training, which is designed to advance inclusion in any environment. Through dynamic, customized microresistance workshops, Ganote teaches a wide range of communication tools that empower people, whether they are the recipient of hurtful words or an observer of that exchange, to take small, doable steps to address microaggressions, misunderstandings, or conflict in their own environments.

In a world where people are often demonizing and dehumanizing others, Ganote brings people toward each other instead of apart.
