Her second feature, "The Substance," starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, premiered at Cannes 2024 and received a 13-minute ovation. This film earned her the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Screenplay and three Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
Fargeat has served as a director for the Netflix series, "The Sandman," in 2022. Throughout 2024 and 2025, she gained multiple recognitions for "The Substance," including the People's Choice Award: Midnight Madness at the Toronto International Film Festival, Best Original Screenplay at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards, and the honor of Outstanding Director of the Year at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
