Christyna Johnson

Christyna Johnson, MS, RDN, LDN, is a registered dietitian and fat liberation advocate recognized for her work in anti-diet nutrition. Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in nutrition from the University of Arkansas and a master's degree in nutrition from Texas Woman's University, completing her dietetic internship through Oklahoma State University. She is among the 2.6 percent of Black registered dietitians in the United States, a distinction she has addressed in her public speaking and writing. Her experience at an eating disorder treatment center during her internship influenced her decision to establish a private practice in Dallas, Texas.

Johnson is the host of the "Intuitive Eating for the Culture" podcast, which examines intuitive eating, Health at Every Size, and social justice issues, particularly for individuals underrepresented in mainstream nutrition conversations. Through concise episodes, she provides practical guidance on intuitive eating and nutrition, focusing on cultural relevance and accessibility.

In her private practice, Johnson applies a weight-inclusive, non-diet approach to nutrition counseling. She collaborates with individuals and families to support eating disorder recovery, improve body image, and foster body respect. Johnson also works with clients on blood glucose management, integrating medical consultation to ensure comprehensive care without compromising food enjoyment.

Johnson frequently addresses topics such as adapting intuitive eating for diverse cultures, the impact of microaggressions on eating behaviors and health, and the influence of fatphobia and Eurocentrism in clinical nutrition. She emphasizes the importance of neutral or positive relationships with food and body image as foundational to long-term health. Johnson is committed to public education, developing accessible nutrition resources online and advocating for collective care and equity in nutrition and health for communities of color.
