Christine Carter

Dr. Christine Carter is an author, speaker, coach, and sociologist whose work focuses on the intersection of science and everyday life. Carter graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College and earned master's and doctoral degrees in sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research draws from psychology, sociology, and neuroscience to develop strategies for coping with modern pressures and to promote thriving within organizations, families, and schools.

Carter served as executive director of the University of California, Berkeley Greater Good Science Center, where she continues as a sociologist and senior fellow. The center is an interdisciplinary research institute that translates the study of happiness, resilience, and emotional intelligence for the public. Carter's work aims to inspire systemic change in corporations, families, and schools, with a focus on how cultures and institutions shape behaviors, beliefs, and emotions.

She is an advisor on the BetterUp Science Board and contributes to Greater Good, Psychology Today, and Fast Company. Carter's books include "The New Adolescence," "The Sweet Spot: How to Achieve More by Doing Less," "Raising Happiness," and "The Other Side of Silence."
