Carl Potter

Carl Potter is a workplace safety expert, speaker, and author whose career focuses on helping organizations create environments where it is difficult to get hurt. Potter began his career in the electric utility industry, spending 17 years in various field and leadership roles. He later founded Potter and Associates International, providing expertise in personal responsibility and safety to companies in the United States, Canada, and countries including those in Africa, Cuba, and Haiti.

Potter is a Certified Safety Professional and a Certified Management Consultant. His philosophy emphasizes that safety is a mindset, not just a program. He advocates for personal responsibility in safety and encourages employees to take action when observing unsafe conditions, promoting effective safety management systems. Potter has addressed thousands of frontline workers, leaders, and executives, guiding them in understanding their roles in creating safer work environments.

As a pilot with experience flying various airplanes, Potter brings additional perspectives to workplace safety. He serves as an Aircraft Commander and District Flight Safety Officer in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, a division of US Homeland Security. Potter also volunteers with organizations such as Angel Flight of Oklahoma and Mission Aviation Fellowship, using aviation to support humanitarian missions.
