Canton Jones

Canton Jones is a Grammy-nominated contemporary gospel singer, rapper, songwriter, producer, and vocal arranger whose career has contributed to the evolution of Christian music. His approach to gospel music incorporates sweeping instrumentation, traditional gospel, contemporary R&B melodies, hip-hop, and electronic elements, blending the sonic styles of musical theater and dance music with his baritone vocals.

By age 16, Jones was writing and producing songs for friends in his hometown. He later moved to Atlanta and attended Morehouse College, where he joined the school's Glee Club. The group performed for public figures including Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, Dr. Bobby Jones, and Ray Charles, as well as at events such as the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games and the first gospel concert at The Pentagon.

Jones's professional journey has been shaped by faith and entrepreneurship. He founded the gospel record label CAJO International and independently released his debut album, "20 Years, 3 Months & 12 Days," which detailed his personal journey to salvation. His national breakthrough came with an appearance on the Grammy-nominated compilation album "Holy Hip Hop: Taking Gospel to the Streets." His subsequent release, "Love Jones," debuted on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart at number 11. Following this success, Jones toured the United States with over 200 appearances, and "The Password" was re-released nationally as "The Password: Access Granted," earning him two Grammy nominations. He was also recognized by The Atlanta Business Journal in its 40 Under 40 chart of Atlanta's rising stars.

Jones continued to expand the boundaries of gospel music with projects such as "Kingdom Business," which featured dancefloor-ready production and choral elements, and "Dominionaire," which included the Grammy-nominated single "Window." The album "Lust, Drugs, & Gospel" addressed themes of addiction and redemption, while "I Am Justice" and "Ghost" explored race relations, personal accountability, and social issues. His charting releases include all five volumes of the "Kingdom Business" series, "Window," "Lust, Drugs & Gospel," and "I Am Justice."

Jones's awards and honors include a Grammy nomination, a Stellar Award nomination, three Gospel Choice Awards, a Trailblazer in Media & Entertainment Award, and a resolution from the Georgia State Senate. He has received the keys to the city of Carrollton, Georgia, and has contributed to Georgia school systems by speaking and performing for students and at-risk youth. Jones has also partnered with organizations such as McDonald's The Gift Tour, Chick-fil-A, the Trumpet Awards, Gospel Music Channel, Walmart, and Hosea Feed the Hungry. In addition to his recording career, Jones serves as a youth pastor, engaging with young people and addressing the challenges they face through his music and ministry.
