Calvin Dorsey

Calvin Dorsey is a management consultant, trainer, and keynote speaker who serves as president of Dorsey Management Services. Dorsey Management Services develops training programs for small businesses, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies. Dorsey has trained more than 100,000 people from various countries and cultures, bringing more than 39 years of experience in training, consulting, management, and sales to each engagement.

Before launching his consulting firm, Dorsey served as vice president of sales, general sales manager, sales manager, and account executive with leading broadcasting companies. During this period, he and his teams set multiple sales records. This background in sales leadership provides Dorsey with practical credibility that resonates with business audiences across industries. His experience spans advertising sales, consulting, training, insurance, teaching, and creating, producing, and hosting an award-winning television show, enabling him to connect with audiences and influence teams to improve productivity.

Dorsey has also contributed to education and community initiatives. He served as an adjunct professor in the School of Management at Texas Woman's University, where he was recognized as Adjunct of the Year. He has published articles in national sales publications, produced and hosted the public affairs television show "Community Comments," which earned 15 international awards including the Silver Telly, and served on various boards and commissions in his community. Dorsey developed the Schoolproof concept during his tenure as a founding member and president of CCAAP, an organization that provided support services for students, parents, teachers, and school districts, with the goal of enhancing excellence in education through community partnerships.

Dorsey's effectiveness as a trainer is reflected in audience feedback. Of 2,006 people who have attended his training programs, 99.6 percent rated his trainer effectiveness as excellent, very good, or good. His speaking topics include business coaching, leadership, communication, negotiation, and sales, covering distinctions between managers and leaders, leadership styles, motivation, empowerment, communication, and emotional intelligence as key components of leadership, as well as practical sales strategies. Dorsey is a member of the National Speakers Association, ATD, and Toastmasters International, and he completed Toastmasters International's entire Pathways Curriculum, becoming one of the first Toastmasters to complete all 11 Paths. He holds a master's degree and is a graduate of Stanford University.
