Byron Slosar

Byron Slosar is a recruitment and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) professional whose career path informs his work in the talent acquisition and HR technology sectors. As the founder and CEO of hellohive, a diversity recruitment and resume technology company, Slosar brings more than 15 years of experience in undergraduate career development and recruiting to a platform designed to connect the next generation of talent with employers.

A former flying trapeze instructor and sociology major, Slosar’s varied career now supports both employers and students in recognizing the value of reimagined relevant experience. Before launching hellohive, Slosar developed expertise in career services through roles such as director of Career Wave Programs and the New York Regional Office at Tulane University. At Tulane, he contributed to the launch and expansion of career programs including Career Wave and Tulane Takeover. Prior to founding hellohive, Slosar worked with more than 4,000 students across educational institutions including Tulane University and the Abaarso School of Science & Technology in Hargeisa, Somaliland. Identifying inefficiencies and inequities in traditional recruitment models, Slosar set out to modernize and democratize the job search process for emerging talent.

Hellohive operates as a virtual recruitment solution, breaking down institutional barriers between employers and candidates from diverse backgrounds through proprietary, patented resume-building technology. Slosar modeled the resume builder after choose-your-own-adventure books, allowing users to navigate their own career stories. The company holds two patents on its resume technology and data solutions, and has secured $3.4 million in Series A funding. Hellohive serves more than 1,400 schools as part of its community.

Slosar’s personal experiences inform his professional mission. He has spoken about how Hurricane Katrina, which stranded him in New York City, led to personal growth and his decision to come out as gay. Slosar believes that students should not need money or connections to secure employment, and hellohive aims to simplify and democratize the recruitment process through a gamified, five-level approach. Students can choose whether to share their diverse backgrounds and experiences on their resumes, with 70 percent opting to do so.

As a keynote speaker, Slosar focuses on making career resources accessible to students from all backgrounds through technology. In his presentations, he addresses traditional barriers in the career process, such as academic majors, linear career trajectories, and recruitment timelines, and offers strategies to overcome them. His work has been featured in Fast Company, Entrepreneur, and Inc., establishing him as a voice in early career recruitment, Gen Z talent, and equitable workplace development.
