Brenda Darden Wilkerson is the president and CEO of AnitaB.org, a nonprofit organization focused on increasing diversity in technology by supporting women and nonbinary professionals. Wilkerson advocates for access, opportunity, and social justice for underrepresented communities in the tech industry. Under her leadership, AnitaB.org expanded its membership from 1,600 to more than 75,000 technologists worldwide. Her mission centers on building an inclusive technology ecosystem.
Wilkerson's career spans both the technology sector and education. Before joining AnitaB.org, she served as director of computer science and IT education for Chicago Public Schools, where she led the Computer Science for All program. This initiative integrated computer science courses into the curriculum for every student in the district, which is the fourth-largest in the United States. Her work on this program influenced the Obama administration's national Computer Science For All initiative.
Wilkerson has been recognized by Forbes in its 50 Over 50 list. She serves on the boards of P33 Chicago, Chitech, and Algorithmic Justice League, contributing her expertise in technology leadership, computer science education, and diversity and inclusion in STEM.
