Boy Named Banjo

Boy Named Banjo is a Nashville-born, five-piece country-Americana band that blends bluegrass roots with folk-rock energy and modern country flair. Comprised of childhood friends Barton Davies (banjo), William Reames (guitar/harmonica), Willard Logan (mandolin/guitar), Ford Garrard (bass), and Sam McCullough (drums), the group began as a string band in high school and earned their name busking outside Robert’s Western World when someone shouted, “Play that banjo, boy!” After independently releasing The Tanglewood Sessions (2012) and Long Story Short (2014)—earning spots at Bonnaroo and other festivals—they signed with Mercury Nashville in 2020 and released their EP Circles in 2021, followed by major-label debut album Dusk in 2023. Dusk showcases their evolved sound—from late-night, cinematic anthems to stripped-down, introspective ballads—highlighted in tracks like “Lonely In This Town” and “Feel For You."

Known for their high‑octane live performances, the band has played venues from the Ryman Auditorium to the Grand Ole Opry, making their debut there in March 2023, and has toured alongside artists like Kip Moore, Hank Williams Jr., and Old Crow Medicine Show. With sold-out hometown shows and festival slots at Seven Peaks, CMA Fest, and more, Boy Named Banjo continues to expand its fanbase, staying true to their genre-bending roots while forging a fresh path in modern country music.
