Bonny Reichert

Bonny Reichert is a National Magazine Award-winning journalist, chef, and memoirist whose career spans the culinary arts and narrative nonfiction. Reichert developed editorial expertise at Canadian publications, including Today's Parent and Chatelaine, before focusing on food writing. She became a regular columnist for The Globe and Mail and contributed features to Style Advisor, Report on Business, and Best Health.

Her corporate experience includes serving as executive chef for Sobeys and consulting for brands such as Unilever and RBC, demonstrating versatility in both culinary and communications fields.

Reichert's debut memoir, "How to Share an Egg: A True Story of Hunger, Love and Plenty," received the Dave Greber Award for social justice writing, achieved bestseller status in The Globe and Mail and Toronto Star, and was chosen as one of NPR's best memoirs of 2025. The memoir addresses themes of heritage, survival, and identity, drawing on her background as the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, which gives her an intimate understanding of the legacy of the Holocaust, and her experiences in culinary school and professional kitchens. Her work engages audiences in both literary and culinary communities.

In addition to her writing, Reichert is a public speaker and writing instructor, teaching creative nonfiction at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies. She has appeared at book events, including launches at Koffler Arts in Toronto and Zibby’s Bookshop in Santa Monica, and is frequently featured in media interviews and literary panels.
