Billy Currington

Billy Currington is an American country music singer-songwriter whose laid-back vocal style and string of radio hits have made him a mainstay of the genre since the early 2000s. Born Nov. 19, 1973, in Savannah, Georgia, Currington was raised in nearby Rincon, where he grew up listening to a mix of classic country, Southern rock and pop influences that would later shape his sound.

After moving to Nashville, Currington signed a recording contract with Mercury Nashville and released his self-titled debut album in 2003. The project produced the Top 10 hit “Walk a Little Straighter,” introducing him as a traditional-minded vocalist with a contemporary edge. His breakthrough came with his second album, “Doin’ Somethin’ Right,” which spawned the No. 1 singles “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right” and “Good Directions,” the latter becoming one of the most-played country songs of the decade.

Currington continued his success with albums including “Little Bit of Everything,” “Enjoy Yourself” and “We Are Tonight,” delivering a run of chart-topping singles such as “People Are Crazy,” “That’s How Country Boys Roll,” “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer,” “Hey Girl” and “We Are Tonight.” Known for blending beachy grooves with mainstream country storytelling, his music often reflects themes of small-town life, romance and easygoing Southern charm.

Over the course of his career, Currington has earned multiple Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association nominations and has been recognized for his consistent presence on country radio.
