Bay Buchanan

In 1981, President Ronald Reagan appointed Bay Buchanan to be Treasurer of the United States, which ultimately catapulted her into a distinguished career in politics.

In the following thirty years, Buchanan remained at the forefront of American politics, working on six presidential campaigns, hosting her own national radio and television shows, and authoring two books.

She was the president of The American Cause, an educational foundation dedicated to advancing traditional conservative issues, and regularly speaks about leadership and conservative principles.

Buchanan served as the campaign chairman for all three of her brother Pat Buchanan's presidential campaigns, and co-anchored "Equal Time," a political talk show on MSNBC. In addition, she worked as a political analyst for "Good Morning America," and hosted a two-hour radio talk show program covering current events.

In the summer of 1996, George magazine recognized her as one of the top 20 political women in the nation, and she was later named the 2007 Woman of the Year by the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute. Later that year she served as chairman to Tancredo's presidential campaign, after which she became a senior advisor to Mitt Romney. In 2011, Buchanan was named one of the ten most influential conservative women in America.

A native of Washington, DC, Bay Buchanan has a master's degree in mathematics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and has further studies at several universities, including the University of New South Wales in Australia. In 1981, she received an Honorary Doctor of Law from Samford University.
