Barbara Broccoli

Barbara Broccoli is a film producer recognized for her leadership of the James Bond franchise, the world's longest-running film series. The daughter of producer Albert R. Broccoli, she began her career in the industry at age 17, working in the publicity department for "The Spy Who Loved Me." Broccoli advanced through roles including executive assistant on "Octopussy" and associate producer on "The Living Daylights." After earning a degree in motion picture and television communications from Loyola Marymount University, she joined EON Productions, the company behind the James Bond films.

Albert R. Broccoli later transferred control of EON Productions to Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson, who maintained creative oversight of the James Bond series. Following the resolution of litigation with MGM, "GoldenEye" marked Broccoli's debut as a full producer alongside Wilson, revitalizing the franchise for a new generation. Broccoli continued to oversee critically acclaimed and commercially successful Bond films, including "Casino Royale," "Skyfall," and "No Time to Die."

Broccoli's work extends beyond the Bond series. She collaborated with London theater producer Michael Rose to create the stage musical "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," enlisting the Sherman Brothers to write new songs for the production. The show ran at the London Palladium and achieved significant box office success. Broccoli's theater projects have earned Tony Awards for Best Musical with "Once" and "The Band's Visit." She also co-produced the London stage adaptation of "Chariots of Fire." In film, Broccoli and Wilson have produced and executive produced independent projects such as "Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool," "Nancy," "The Rhythm Section," "Till," and "The Accidental Getaway Driver."

Broccoli has received numerous honors for her contributions to film and theater, including appointments as Officer and Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to film, drama, philanthropy, and skills. She and Wilson received the David O. Selznick Achievement Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures from the Producers Guild of America and the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film for "Skyfall." The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presented the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to Broccoli and Wilson, making Broccoli only the second woman to receive the Thalberg Award. She serves as vice president for film for BAFTA and president of the National Youth Theatre. In a significant development for the franchise, Broccoli and Wilson announced a joint venture with Amazon MGM Studios to manage the James Bond intellectual property rights, remaining as co-owners of the franchise.
