Audie Cornish

Audie Cornish is a journalist with a career spanning more than two decades in broadcast reporting. Cornish began her journalism career at the Associated Press in Boston, where she covered major news events, including the legislative battle in Massachusetts over same-sex marriage and the Catholic clergy sex abuse scandal. She later joined WBUR, focusing on significant local and national stories.

After joining NPR's National Desk, Cornish reported from Nashville, covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and other news in the Southeastern United States. She later joined NPR's politics team to cover the presidential race and the election of Barack Obama. Returning to Washington, Cornish reported on Capitol Hill, covering the Affordable Care Act, the rise of the Tea Party movement, and federal financial policy following the Great Recession.

Cornish replaced Liane Hansen as host of NPR's "Weekend Edition Sunday" and went on to co-host "All Things Considered." "All Things Considered" reaches an audience of 14 million listeners per week. During her tenure at NPR, Cornish interviewed a wide range of subjects, including Bruce Springsteen, Barack Obama, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Ta-Nehisi Coates.

Cornish has received several honors in journalism, including a George Peabody Award for her work with StoryCorps 9/11 Project and the Sol Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism from the National Press Foundation. Her feature reporting on the opioid crisis in Baltimore earned a Salute to Excellence Award from the National Association of Black Journalists. She also shared a first prize in the National Awards for Education Writing for "Reading, Writing, and Race," a study of the achievement gap.

Cornish serves as an anchor and senior analyst for CNN. She has hosted "CNN This Morning" and a weekly CNN podcast, "Engagement Party," alongside Ari Shapiro. Cornish previously hosted "The Assignment," a podcast recognized as Best Interview Podcast at the Ambies Awards and Best News & Politics Podcast at the Black Podcasting Awards. As a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Cornish continues to provide in-depth reporting and analysis on major news, politics, and cultural issues.
