Anne-Marie Imafidon

Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE is a British-Nigerian social entrepreneur and computer scientist recognized for her contributions to diversity in technology and STEM education. At age 11, Imafidon became the youngest girl to pass A-level computing, and by 20, she earned a master's degree in mathematics and computer science from the University of Oxford. She has held positions at Goldman Sachs, Hewlett-Packard, and Deutsche Bank, later focusing her expertise on advancing opportunities for underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Imafidon founded and serves as CEO of Stemettes, a social enterprise dedicated to promoting women in STEM careers. The organization has reached more than 65,000 young people and non-binary individuals across Europe through hackathons, certification programs, and mentoring networks. She also co-founded Outbox Incubator, a technology incubator for teenage girls that has supported over 115 young entrepreneurs. Imafidon is the author of "She's in CTRL," a book aimed at empowering women in technology.

Her work in technology and STEM advocacy includes speaking at international conferences such as Web Summit, SXSW, and Women of the World Festival. Imafidon has delivered talks for major digital companies and conferences, including Facebook, Amazon, Google, Mercedes-Benz, Fujitsu, and Mastercard. She hosted the "Women Tech Charge" podcast for Evening Standard, interviewing technology leaders and public figures, and co-hosted a special episode of Channel 4's "Countdown" for the Black to Front Day campaign, later appearing in 60 episodes as maternity cover. She has also appeared on "8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown."

Imafidon has served as President of the British Science Association and as the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology's Women in Tech Envoy, co-chairing a taskforce with the Secretary of State. She is Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University. Her honors include appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to young women and the STEM sector, recognition as the UK's most influential woman in tech by Computer Weekly, the Suffrage Science Award, and inclusion on Forbes' list of the World's Top 50 Women in Tech. Imafidon holds honorary doctorates from several universities, including Royal Holloway University of London, University of Bath, Durham University, University of Leicester, Open University, Glasgow Caledonian University, University of Kent, University of Bristol, and Coventry University. Imafidon's career reflects a sustained commitment to equity, innovation, and leadership in science and technology.
