Anna Escobedo Cabral

Anna Escobedo Cabral currently serves as an independent director for two public companies: and Navient and Lincoln Tech Institute. Her non-profit commitments include serving as chair of two nonprofit organizations, the Jessie Ball duPont Fund and BBVA Bank’s Microfinance Foundation, as Treasurer for Lideramos, a national Latino leadership organization and as a member of the Orange County Community Foundation. She also serves as a member of the Comcast/NBCU Diversity Advisory Committee, and as advisor to the Libra Corporation, and to Valaurum.

Ms. Cabral has had a long career in public service. From 2009 to 2018, Ms. Cabral served as a Senior Advisor in the External Relations Division of the Inter-American Development Bank. From 2004 to 2009, Ms. Cabral served as the 42nd Treasurer of the United States. From 2003 to 2004, Ms. Cabral was named as Director of the Smithsonian Institution's Center for Latino Initiatives. From 1999 to 2003, Ms. Cabral served as President and CEO of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility. From 1993 to 1999, Ms. Cabral served as Deputy Staff Director for the United States Senate Judiciary Committee under Chairman Orrin G. Hatch, and from 1991 to 1999, she simultaneously served as Executive Director of the U.S. Senate Republican Conference Task Force on Hispanic Affairs.

Ms. Cabral has a BA in Political Science from UC Davis, an MPA from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a law degree from George Mason School of Law.

A native of California, Ms. Cabral and her husband, Victor, live in San Clemente. Together they raised four successful children who have blessed them with six grandchildren.

What this bio doesn’t say it that she comes from humble beginnings, if the first in her family to graduate high school and that she’s passionate about three things: modeling herself after her high school teacher Philip Lamm who she credits for changing her life, and for speaking about the importance of education as the great equalizer, and similarly, the need for greater financial education.
