Angelo Surmelis

Angelo Surmelis is a Greek-American designer, television personality, and author whose career spans interior design, furniture design, television hosting, and young adult fiction. Surmelis has worked as a professional designer since the mid-1990s, building a career that has taken him from private clients to national television. His work has been featured on more than 50 television shows, including The Today Show and Extra, as well as in magazines such as InStyle, TV Guide, and Entertainment Weekly.

Surmelis served as a designer on the TLC program "Clean Sweep," the Lifetime program "Merge," and the Style Network program "My Celebrity Home." He was host and designer on HGTV's "24 Hour Design" for four seasons and on the HGTV series "Rate My Space with Angelo Surmelis" for three seasons. Additional credits include appearances on "HGTV Star," "HGTV Showdown," and television specials such as "25 Great Holiday Ideas" and "HGTV's Home for the Holidays." Before his design career, Surmelis worked as a stage and screen actor in Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles, with appearances on shows including "Angel" and "Port Charles."

Surmelis owns the brand angelo:HOME and offers an upholstered furniture line available through retailers such as QVC, Overstock, Costco, CSN Stores, Kittles, and Amazon. He is an ambassador with the Sustainable Furnishings Council in High Point, North Carolina, supporting environmentally responsible design practices alongside other interior and furniture designers.

Surmelis is also the author of the young adult novel "The Dangerous Art of Blending In," a coming-of-age story informed by his own experiences growing up in a strict Greek household in the Midwest. The novel explores themes of identity, family, and resilience, resonating with readers, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community.

Surmelis's career reflects a blend of design expertise, television presence, entrepreneurship, and storytelling. He has appeared on NBC's The Today Show, CNN, Good Morning America, Extra, The Tyra Banks Show, and Good Day Live, engaging audiences on topics such as sustainable design, personal narrative, and the impact of well-designed spaces.
