Andre Simms is a revolutionary artist and organizer dedicated to healing through creative expression and building power through storytelling. As the founding director of DayOneNotDayTwo, Simms leads a youth-centered, intergenerational movement to dismantle oppressive institutions, inspiring and empowering communities of color to manifest true liberation. His work has earned national acclaim, from coordinating the first-ever White House Youth Policy Summit to collaborating with federal agencies such as the Department of Justice and the Department of Education on a cross-country tour addressing the school-to-prison pipeline. Simms is also a Ford Foundation Emerging Leader Fellow and a Young Innovators in Behavioral Health and Technology Award recipient. His organizing has been instrumental in introducing restorative alternatives to youth incarceration in Delaware County and in transforming the culture of hip-hop in Philadelphia.
