Alyssa Thomas

Alyssa Thomas began her professional basketball career as a forward for the New York Liberty, selected 4th overall in the 2014 WNBA draft. That same year, her contributions were recognized as she was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team. Her career took her to the Connecticut Sun and finally to the Phoenix Mercury, where she currently plays. Over the years, Thomas' talent has been consistently acknowledged; she has been selected as a WNBA All-Star six times, named to the All-WNBA First Team twice, and the All-WNBA Second Team once. Her defensive skills have earned her spots on the WNBA All-Defensive First Team twice and the WNBA All-Defensive Second Team four times.

Thomas' achievements extend beyond the WNBA. Her international career includes playing in South Korea, Turkey, and the Czech Republic. In 2023, she was recognized as the EuroLeague Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to the All-EuroLeague First Team twice. Back in the United States, she made history with the WNBA, holding the record for career triple-doubles with 19 as of August 2025. In addition, she was the WNBA rebounding champion in 2023, a WNBA steals leader in 2020, and the WNBA assists leader in 2025. In the inaugural 2025 season of "Unrivaled," a women's 3-on-3 basketball league, she showcased her skills.

Thomas' prowess on the court extends to her time with the University of Maryland, where she remains the all-time leader in points, rebounds, and double-doubles for the women's program. She was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year three times consecutively and was the ACC Female Athlete of the Year in 2014. Her participation in international competitions includes winning gold medals with Team USA at the 2022 FIBA World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics, displaying her team spirit and competitive edge.
