Alyssa Thomas

Alyssa Thomas has marked her presence prominently in the field of professional basketball. She currently holds the forward position for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). After being traded by the New York Liberty, who drafted her 4th overall in the 2014 WNBA draft, Thomas swiftly made her mark in her rookie year, earning a spot on the WNBA All-Rookie Team. Since then, her career has been highlighted by four WNBA All-Star selections in 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2023, and a defining moment in 2023 was when she was named to the All-WNBA First Team.

Thomas's defensive prowess on the court is notable, with her being named to the WNBA All-Defensive First Team twice and the All-Defensive Second Team three times. Her 2023 season was particularly standout, as she claimed the WNBA rebounding champion title and the EuroLeague Defensive Player of the Year award. She has also demonstrated superior ball control, recording eleven career triple-doubles in the WNBA and being one of just four players to record 15+ points, 15+ rebounds, and 10+ assists with 0 turnovers in a game.

Prior to her professional career, Thomas left an indelible mark at the University of Maryland, where she became the all-time leader in points, rebounds, and double-doubles for both the women's and men's programs. She was a three-time ACC Player of the Year and earned multiple All-American honors. Her international experience spans South Korea, Turkey, and the Czech Republic, and she was part of the gold medal-winning United States squad at the 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.
