Alyssa Mastromonaco

Alyssa Mastromonaco is an American author, podcaster, and former senior government official recognized for her work in politics and media. Mastromonaco began her political career as an intern for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and later served as director of scheduling for John Kerry's presidential campaign. She joined Barack Obama's team as director of scheduling for his U.S. Senate campaign and continued in various roles, including director of scheduling and advance for Obama's presidential campaign.

Mastromonaco was appointed deputy chief of staff for operations in the Obama White House, where she managed the White House compound and oversaw executive branch operations, including the military personnel supporting Air Force One, Camp David, and Marine One. She was the youngest woman to hold this position and was featured on The New Republic's list of Washington's Most Powerful, Least Famous People. Alongside Nancy-Ann DeParle, Mastromonaco was part of the first presidential administration to have two women serving as deputy chiefs of staff simultaneously.

During her tenure, Mastromonaco managed operations through government shutdowns, natural disasters, national tragedies, and significant historical events. After leaving the White House, she held executive roles as chief operating officer at Vice Media and president of global communications and strategy at A&E Networks. Mastromonaco is a contributor to Crooked Media's "Pod Save America," a contributing editor to Marie Claire, and has served as senior advisor and spokesperson for NARAL Pro-Choice America.

Mastromonaco is the author of the New York Times bestseller "Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?
